Fellow Texans, look out for those around you.

With our 25 plus days over 100 degrees, you might be surprised at the number of people who don’t have Air Conditioning or have systems that can’t keep up with the heat. If you have friends, distant family members or neighbors be sure to check on them and invite them into your home to cool off. The heat can take its toll on the elderly so be sure to give them special attention and remember they might be too proud to ask for your help, so make the first move and offer them a hand! Also save all yard work for early morning or late evening and be sure to wear a hat! A simple personal cooling device is to take a bandana and soak it in water before you tie it around your neck. Remember to drink plenty of water and check your hydration levels. When you go to the restroom, if it is yellow, you need water! Stay cool and stay hydrated!

The Relay for Life is here!

It is that time again to come out and support the Johnson County Relay for Life as they host their annual fundraiser.  Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.  In past years the event has been held at the Cleburne High School Yellow Jacket track but due to putting in new grass the track is unavailable.  So make note of the new location at Smith Middle School at the corner of Nolan River and Country Club Drive in Cleburne.
